ANSWER: Ronaldinho
On November 19, 2005, Ronaldinho scored twice for Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu. After his second goal, the Real Madrid crowd gave him a standing ovation. This is one of the most extraordinary moments in the history of El Clásico. Real Madrid fans do not clap for Barcelona players. For Ronaldinho, they had no choice.

At the 2022 World Cup, Goncalo Ramos started for Portugal against Switzerland after Cristiano Ronaldo was dropped to the bench. He scored three goals on his World Cup starting debut. Portugal won 6-1. Ramos was 21 years old.

His Europa League final performance remains one of the most surprising individual displays in European club football in recent years.

ANSWER: Kaoru Mitoma
Kaoru Mitoma is a Japanese winger at Brighton who completed a masters degree in sports science. His thesis analysed the biomechanics of dribbling and how to improve the success rate of take-ons near the touchline. He then became one of the most effective dribblers in the Premier League. The thesis is real. The results were real.

He was the most booed player in England. Then won the Bundesliga unbeaten.
ANSWER: Granit Xhaka
As Arsenal captain, Granit Xhaka was publicly booed by Arsenal fans after a substitution in 2019. He removed his shirt, cupped his ears, and walked off. He was stripped of the captaincy. He joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2023 and won the Bundesliga in an unbeaten season. The comeback is complete.
