Day 1 Challenge Answer — Cristiano Ronaldo: Did You Get It From the First Clue?
If you got it from Clue 1 — born in Madeira, Portugal — you passed the first test. If you needed all three clues, do not worry. It only gets harder from here.
Here are the three clues from Day 1 and what they were telling you.
Clue 1: Born in Madeira, Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo was born on February 5, 1985, in Funchal, the capital of Madeira, a Portuguese island in the Atlantic Ocean. He grew up in a modest family, sharing a room with his siblings, and left for Lisbon at the age of 12 to join Sporting CP’s academy.
Madeira is a small island. Not many world-class footballers come from there. This clue alone should have been enough for any serious football fan.
Clue 2: Won the Ballon d’Or 5 times
Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Ballon d’Or five times — in 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017. He and Lionel Messi have dominated this award for nearly two decades, which is one of the most extraordinary facts in the history of sport.
His five Ballon d’Or wins came at two different clubs — Manchester United and Real Madrid. At United he won his first in 2008. At Real Madrid he won the other four.
Clue 3: Currently plays in Saudi Arabia
In the summer of 2023, Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia. The move was historic — he became one of the biggest stars ever to move to the Saudi Pro League, opening the door for other top players to follow.
His shirt number at Al Nassr is 7, the same number he wore at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and for the Portugal national team.
Why Ronaldo Is the Perfect Day 1 Player
We started the 100 Days Challenge with Ronaldo because he is the most recognisable footballer on the planet. Over one billion people follow him on social media. His face, his celebrations, his story — they are known everywhere football is watched.
But Ronaldo is more than just famous. His career is a story about obsession with excellence. He was not the most talented player in the Sporting Lisbon academy. He worked harder than everyone else until he was. That mentality is what turned a kid from Madeira into the greatest scorer in the history of football.
His club record speaks for itself. Over 900 career goals. Five Champions League titles. Leagues won in Portugal, England, Spain, and Italy. A World Cup with Portugal where he has been the team’s most important player for two decades.
The SIUUU Celebration
One thing every football fan knows is his celebration. The jump, the spin, the landing — SIUUU. It started at Real Madrid and spread to every stadium where Ronaldo plays. Al Nassr fans do it. Portugal fans do it. Even fans of rival clubs have to admit it has become one of the iconic images of modern football.
